The tour starts with the pick-up service at 9:00am by your local professional tour guide. Then you will enjoy a comfortable transfer by a private air-conditioned vehicle to the renowned Leshan Giant Buddha. It takes about 2 hours on the road.

Upon arrival, enjoy a delicious lunch at well-selected local restaurant. Then walk into the park to visit the Buddha from a very close distance, listen to your guide’s narration to learn the long history and architectural artistry of the Giant Buddha, and be amazed by the this UNESCO listed World Heritage.

The Giant Buddha was carved from the mountain rock, with its head reaching to the mountain top and its feet standing next to the river. Its total height is 71 meters. The head only is 14.7meters high and 10 meters wide. Its insteps can hold over a hundred people, so you may imagine how big it is. It lies at the confluence of the Minjiang, Dadu and Qingyi rivers, facing the sacred Mount Emei. The statue is actually a stout, smiling monk, calmly sitting resting his hands upon his knees. He is believed to be Maitreya, a Buddha and disciple of Sakyamuni, who is said to have founded Buddhism.

If you want to see the panoramic view of the Buddha, you may take a boat at your own cost to have an alternative perspective, your guide will be happy to help. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to Chengdu and dropped off at the hotel.
