Stop At: San Sebastian del Oeste, San Sebastian del Oeste

We´ll go to a local distillery and later, an Organic Coffee Factory. Our lunch stop will be in a regional restaurant with delicious food. In the town plaza, we’ll visit the main church built in the seventeenth century and Doña Conchita’s Museum as well as free leisure time look around its amazing stores and nostalgic architecture. San Sebastián del Oeste is a little town with a lot of magic because its architecture, traditions and gastronomy. It’s located in the western part of Jalisco, close to Puerto Vallarta. Due the mountainous geography, this is a perfect place for the coffee harvest. 

The history of San Sebastián starts in 1542, when the Spanish conquerors found a couple of mines that will give economic wealth to the town. At its high point, San Sebastián had a population of around 20,000 people but in in the nineteenth century the mining boom was finished. 

For a while, San Sebastián was almost a ghost town, that’s why the old architecture and traditions were preserved. Now we can enjoy of it as an important touristic point in Jalisco: you have to visit the church of Saint Sebastian, Doña Conchita’s Museum, the main square with its beautiful gardens and the portals that surround it. 

If you’re hungry, this is the perfect place for taste some regional dishes like tamales, enchiladas, pozole, birria, chocolate with raicilla (distillate of agave), coffee and artisan candies made with guava or apple.
